Kohima, November 23 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has described the upcoming welcome reception for Rev Dr Franklin Graham at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on November 30 as a spiritually significant event for the people of Nagaland.

The gathering comes at a time when society is facing division, confusion, and spiritual weariness, making the event a timely opportunity for renewal and transformation, noted NBCC General Secretary Rev Dr Mar Pongener in a press release.

Although the programme is being organised in collaboration with the NBCC and the Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF), he appreciated the dedication and spiritual commitment demonstrated by the Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (KBPF) for the event.

He noted that the pastors have devoted countless hours in prayer, planning, coordination, and intercession.

“Their commitment, seen through many hours of planning, discussion, coordination, and intercession, reflects a ministry birthed out of genuine pastoral burden,” he added.

Highlighting the vision behind the reception, Dr Pongener explained that it grew from the pastors’ awareness of challenges such as broken families, discouraged youth, weakened fellowships, and spiritual stagnation in communities.

“Like the prophet Nehemiah, who wept over the condition of Jerusalem before stepping into action, our pastors too have carried a deep burden for the spiritual state of our land,” he added.

Dr Pongener urged all believers, families, and churches to prepare their hearts for renewal and transformation, stressing the need for revival in lived experience, not just words.

He cited scriptures encouraging repentance, renewal, and drawing near to God, emphasising that God’s timing and prompting underpin the gathering.

He further highlighted the counselling sessions and personal ministry opportunities that will be offered during the event, noting that participants facing personal, emotional, or spiritual struggles could seek guidance, prayer, and healing.

The NBCC General Secretary called on citizens to attend prayerfully and humbly, affirming that the gathering is a God-given opportunity to encounter Christ, receive blessings, and strengthen the faith of Nagaland’s communities.
