Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The History department of St John College, Dimapur coordinated a free online lecture series from September 26 to October 5, featuring international speakers.
The lecture series was organized for the students, scholars, academicians and anyone interested, with participants from across the globe.
The session started with welcome address from the College Principal, Prof ST Janetius.
The inaugural lecture was brought by Prof Harbans Mukhia of JNU on ‘Many Modes of Studying History'. The second lecture was brought by Eshan Sharma, who is an Activist and founder of Karwaan: The Heritage Exploration Initiative, New Delhi. He spoke on ‘The Importance of the Study of History and the Responsibility for the Protection of our Heritage’ on September 28.
The third lecture was brought by Prof Rajib Handique of Gauhati University, Assam on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) under the topic ‘Mahatma Gandhi's Teaching and Ideas: Relevance to Modern day Society’. The closing lecture was delivered by Prof Jelle JP Wouters of Royal Thimphu College- Royal University of Bhutan, on the topic of ‘Political History of Nagaland: From the Past to the Present’ on October 5.
The vote of thanks was delivered by the College Administration Head, Peter J Banks. The lecture series was Co-ordinated by Asst Prof Mukutar Rehman Saikia, HoD of History Department and joint coordinated by Asst Prof Kuvethilu Thuluo and Asst Prof Abherupa Battacharjee.
The College informed in a press release that the video of the lectures will be made available via college social media channels.
