Dimapur, August 23 (MExN): The Department of Botany St. John College kicked off its first Online Lecture Series on August 21 with a talk on ethno medicinal plants.
The first lecture of the series was delivered on on the topic “Ethno Medicinal Plants: A Retrospection From 21st Century” by Shamikhu Changmai, Assistant Professor of Botany, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya.
The lecture covered the global history and tradition of ethno medicine with a special reference to North East India, informed a press release from the college.
The series was inaugurated by Prof S T Janetious, the principal of the college in the presence of more than one hundred participants, it said.
The next lecture in the series will focus on genetic engineering, it added.
The event was hosted by Uttam Nath, Head of Department, Botany and the organizing secretary of the series and ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Toshinungla Ao, an Asst Professor of the Department .
