Dimapur, June 23 (DIPR): The first ever Disaster Management Cell in the State also known as ‘Emergency Operation Centre’ (EOC) is being inaugurated at Deputy Commissioner’s office complex, Dimapur, on June 23, 2010.
ADC Dimapur, Sedevikho Khro in the inaugural function said that the newly established centre is equipped with the latest state of the art equipments in dealing natural disaster like earthquake or related to any disaster. He also said that though the district does not face the danger of flood like other states yet, we are prone to natural disaster like earthquake and the main concern for the district is to come up with proper planning. He further said that if high magnitude earthquake occurs in our state, Dimapur will have serious impact and therefore needs for preparation in dealing with the aftermath of its occurrence.
ADC was optimistic that with the newly inaugurated centre, Dimapur Disaster Management Cell will effectively deal in the event of any disaster in the district. ADC also said that the emergency operation centre includes the following departments like PWD, Power, Medical, Supply, Vety and other allied departments. The cell would be headed by the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur as Incident Commander.
