Kohima, August 25 (MExN): The first meeting of newly constituted State Level Audit Advisory Board (SLAAB), Nagaland was held on August 24 in the conference hall of the office of Accountant General (Audit), Nagaland here.
The main objective of constituting SLAAB is to enhance the effectiveness of Audit by providing a forum for professional discussion between the senior management of audit office and knowledgeable and experienced professionals from varied fields, stated a press release received here.
During the meeting, SLAAB discussed the implementation of government programmes and schemes and audit findings made through the CAG report for previous years of various State government departments and also the private firms in the State.
The committee discussed way forward and wanted that Audit to be more relevant, effective, and add value to the governance of the State, the release said.
The members present also expressed serious concern on financial irregularities in various government departments while emphasizing on the need to create better awareness among the general populace on the audit reports, which are annually submitted to the government and laid in the State Assembly.
SLAAB is headed by Accountant General (Audit) A Pitoho Chophy (IAAS) as chairman and Deputy AG (Audit) Nikhil J Chakravarthi (IAAS) as Member Secretary. Members of the newly constituted board from different fields are: Dr. Kilemla, former UPSC member; Dr. LM Murry; Rev. Dr. Chingmak from Eleutheros Christian Society, Tuensang; Dr. IP Khala, retired Director, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry; Advocate Kezhokhoto Savi, president, Nagaland Voluntary Consumers' Organisation; Neichute Duolo, CEO, Entrepreneurs Associates; Rev. Dr. Ellen C Jamir, Associate Professor of Pastoral Care & Counselling, Oriental Theological Seminary, Dimapur; and Narayan Bahadur, Journalist, Press Trust of India, Kohima.
The ex-officio members are – EM Patton, IAAS, Principal Accountant General (A&E) and Kahoto J Yepthomi, IAAS, Deputy AG (A&E).
