Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The Health authorities of Kohima today took strong note that bakery products from Kohima are not labeled according to guidelines of health. They are either misbranded or have anomalies, stated the Chief Medical Officer and Local Health Authority in an order today.
Ordering proper labeling and also prohibiting food products from outside the district entering Kohima, the CMO also prohibited bakery products without proper labeling from Dimapur from entering the capital
It is found that most of the bakery food products manufactured in Kohima are not labeled in accordance with the requirements of the Prevention of Food Adulteration (PFA) Act 1954 & Rules 1955, stated Chief Medical Officer Dr. L Ralte in the order.
“In addition there are also many bakery food products coming from other districts, especially from Dimapur, which are also the same. These are all misbranded/labeling defects without manufacturing date, best before etc. foods,” the CMO stated.
All proprietors of bakeries in Kohima are ordered to rectify the labels of their products. “Bakery products coming from other districts without proper labeling would not be allowed for sale in Kohima. Henceforth, any such food products found in the market would be seized and necessary action would be initiated as per section 7 of PFA Act 1954 with immediate affect,” the Chief Medical Officer stated.
