State police arms with Criminal tracking system

Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): The Nagaland police is arming itself with technology, but courtesy of the Home Affairs ministry, to enhance criminal investigation, maintaining law and order and crisis response. The Crime & Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) project is an initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs under the National e-Governance plan.
According to the office of the Nagaland Director General of Police, 14 computer-training centers have been set-up in all the districts while training in basic computer use for officers and men of the police department is “in full swing.” Already 1053 officers or personnel have been trained,  PRO of Nagaland police ADGP ST Sangtam informed today.
A report on the implementation was submitted to the Home Affairs and approved, the departments said. Accordingly, selection for System Integrator (SI) is in process. Presently, technical and financial bids are being evaluated strictly on the guidelines issued by Home ministry and is expected that the selection of SI will be finalized by this month.
“Once the system Integrator comes in board, he will be responsible for networking all the 51 Police Stations and 93 higher offices in the Police Department. Customization of Police application software, training and handholding support will all be provided by the SI under the supervision of State project Management Unit (SPMU),” the PRO informed.
“It is expected that the installation and networking works in all the Police Stations and higher will be completed by end of next year and with handholding support of the SI for 5 years the system will definitely modernize the working system of the Police department.”
