DIMAPUR, JUNE 2 (MExN): Shamator Town Public Forum (STPF) has reiterated its demand for inauguration of Community Health Centre (CHC) building in Shamator with deployment of more doctors led by a Senior Medical Officer, adequate number of staff nurses, other required manpower and facilities within one month.
Despite a rejoinder issued by the Nagaland Health Department to STPF’s earlier representation, the forum said that it stands by its earlier representation taking into consideration that the District HQ is now in the provision of District Hospital but the District HQ is not even at the stage of CHC.
“It is evident that the lives of the entire citizens has been threatened as there is only one General Duty Medical Office, and one Dental Surgeon (no Dental Equipment were provided) for the entire populace at CHC Shamator to effectively tackle the present scenario.
At present despite citizen having economically poor and lack of facilities the Citizens are compelled to travel to the other district hospitals for medical assistance, it said. It further demanded that the Health Department conduct spot/physical verification of the said grievances.
STPF meanwhile questioned whether CHC Shamator is solely “for the sake of embellishment of department.” In the event of failing to address the demand within the stipulated date, the Health Department shall be solely held responsible for any consequences thereafter, it cautioned.
