DIMAPUR, June 28 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN President Gen. Khole Konyak and Ato Kilonser N. Kitovi Zhimomi has in a joint press statement informed the Naga people that the “commotion arising out of the recent impeachment of former Chairman S.S Khaplang is but a natural socialist and democratic process of strengthening the core values of Naga political struggle”. Stating that the “incoherent opinion of P Tikhak, Wangtin Naga, and others questioning impeachment and expulsion of former Chairman on 7th June 2011” was due to “their inability to accept the decision of the National Assembly” and that this “may be considered as youthful exuberance fuelled by personal ambition”.
“It is understandable as we, in our younger years, felt the same impulse but we managed to channel all our strength towards defending and preserving Naga national identity. The GPRN/NSCN Leadership has no personal animosity with either S.S Khaplang or any of the junior national workers who have not grasped the revolutionary tradition of the Nagas. Distributing higher ranks and appointing each other into important positions should give a sound idea as to what these young people are upto in the name of S.S Khaplang”, stated the joint press note.

It also stated that it shall move ahead according to the will and desire of the Naga people towards our common goal.
All GPRN/NSCN civil and military authorities have also been urged to be on alert at this particular period. “In the coming weeks intense media campaign against GPRN/NSCN may continue however, the Collective Leadership would only hope that the reconciliation bound Naga people would differentiate between those serving the Naga nation with utmost commitment and those squabbling for their own positions under impeached president”, stated the press note.
The joint statement also pointed out that in the aftermath of Khaplang’s impeachment and expulsion, there appeared to be “a group of young men under Konyak Region and Sumi region displaying their youthful aggression”. “The Konyak people and Sumi people under the two regions appear to be most vulnerable at this transitional period”, it stated adding that the NGOs, Hohos, elders and general public under Konyak and Sumi Regions in particular and the Naga people in general are urged to display wisdom and maturity in dealing with such situations.
