Students of GHSS Tuensang oriented on civil services exams

Tuensang, October 25 (MExN): The Tuensang District Administration organized a Civil Services oriented career counseling programme at the auditorium hall of GHSS Tuensang for class X to XII students of GHSS Tuensang and GHSS Thangjam on October 25.
Delivering the inaugural address, Rajashekara N IPS, DIG Range, Tuensang, gave an overview of the various central government service examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
Demystifying the examination, he sensitized the students regarding the syllabus, subjects, and the kind of questions asked in these kinds of examinations. Highlighting the importance of basics, he enlightened and encouraged the students to be thorough with the curriculum being followed by the students at school in order to forge a strong foundation. Pointing out the level playing platform of the exams, he encouraged the students to aspire and prepare for such competitive exams irrespective of educational background.
As per DIPR report, resource persons for the event were Minga Sherpa IAS, SDO(C) Tuensang; Dr Preetpal Kaur IPS, SDPO Tuensang, and N Orenthung Kikon NCS EAC(P) Tuensang. Giving an introduction to the IAS, Sherpa spoke about the vast opportunities that the service provides. He also encouraged the students present to aspire for this noble profession in which one is empowered with the authority and responsibility to change lives.
Dwelling on the Indian Police Services, Dr Kaur not only enlightened the students about the uniformed services, but also challenged the students to shun self destructive practices. Highlighting the vast talent pool amongst the youth in Nagaland, she encouraged the students to aspire to be all-rounders.
Giving an overview of the exams conducted by the Nagaland Public Services Commission examination, Orenthung Kikon highlighted the differences and similarities between the All India Services and the State Civil Services.
He also pointed out the requirements of being a civil servant irrespective of the service that one belongs to. Drawing from the whole scheme of the examinations, he pointed out how the whole process of preparing for these examinations is a process of character building in itself.
Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, Mohammed Ali Shihab IAS who also paid a visit during the event, encouraged the students for a career in the civil services. He gave the students a mantra of 4 D's - Desire, Direction, Discipline, and Dedication, while pointing out the excitement and challenges of being in the civil services. After the programme, the officials led by the Deputy Commissioner and DIG (R) also inspected the GHSS Tuensang premises.
Apenro Khuvung, Vice Principal, GHSS Tuensang pronounced the welcome note while Ruokuosetuo Tetso NCS, EAC (P) Tuensang was the compere for the event.
