Study tour to replicate Phek model projects

PHEK (MExN): In a remarkable feature of bringing about substantial development activities in the state, the Kohima District VDB today made a study tour to Phek and visited the 2x50 kw Biomas Gasifire project at Pfutsero Village and the 2x200 kw. Tuphalari Mini Project at Chizami.

Replying on the query of the main object of the programme, Hilo Sema, Project Director DRDA, Kohima District and also the brain child of the programme told The Morung Express that the main object of the programme is to get the first hand information so that in the near future, the other villages can also adopt the good examples as the two projects are the first of its kind in our state. Kuovisie-o Rio, President, VDB Union Kohima District said, “The study tour was very impressive and encouraging and from this we know that our state can be self-dependent in power generation rather than a parasite to other states if our resources are used wisely.”

It can be remarked that the 2x200 kw. Tuphalari Mini Hydel Project was inaugurated by Chief Minister, Nephiu Rio on 21st January and the 2x50 kw Biomas Gasifire inaugurated by Padmashri A.M Gokhale, IAS, the then Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Non-conventional energy resources (MNES) on 22nd January.

The tour comprised of 21 Govt. officials, 80 VDB Secretaries including 9 women VDB Secretaries and 67 public leaders.
