Superannuation issue: NIDA accepts Nagaland Govt’s offer; calls off agitation

Kohima, April 17 (MExN): The Nagaland In-service Doctors’ Association (NIDA) on Saturday decided to call off its proposed agitation, after State Chief Secretary offered to resolve the issue of superannuation age of the doctors in the State within a year.

According to a DIPR report, a meeting with the office bearers and representative of the Nagaland In-service Doctors’ Association (NIDA) was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary Nagaland and other senior officers at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall, Kohima on April 17 to deliberate on the issue of superannuation age of doctors and NIDA’s proposed agitation.

The CS informed the Association that the government is actively considering the matter, and offered to resolve the matter within a period not exceeding one year. Further, in view of the present COVID-19 situation in the State and the threat of a second wave, the Chief Secretary reiterated the appeal made earlier on April 10 to withdraw its proposed agitation.

After due consideration of the offer, NIDA issued a statement informing of its decision to call off the agitation indefinitely.
