MON, JUNE 6 (MExN): The Mon police, on June 5, confiscated what is suspected to be heroin. According to the Mon police, a 44 year-old man, identified as Nokgu alias Anok was arrested in this connection.
“The accused person was apprehended while he was proceeding towards Mon on the Longwa-Mon road,” stated a brief report about the incident from the Mon police. It stated that the drug consignment (known locally as sunflower), weighing approximately 750 grams, was packed into 58 soap cases.
A police official from Mon added that it was the third such drug confiscation this year in the district. The official said that heroin use is turning out to be a big problem in Mon.
Drug catches across Nagaland often make the news and on most occasions, the people arrested turn out to be no more than carriers, while the bigger fish, within the State as well as across the international border, remain untraceable.
