Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): The Sovima Village Council (SVC) on Saturday condemned an alleged assault and robbery perpetrated on some persons involved in construction works at Sovima village on April 9, at around 8:30 pm by some miscreants. The Village Council expressed concern and alarm at the presence of ‘thieves and shady characters’ moving freely in the vicinity of the Village. It urged the youth organization of the Village to be vigilant to prevent further recurrence of similar incidents. The SVC meanwhile appreciated the police personnel attached with the State Chief Minister and personnel posted at Chümoukedima Police Station for promptly apprehending the miscreants within an hour of occurrence of the incident. Such efficient and speedy response in arresting criminals is a huge encouragement to the villagers, and shall surely go a long way in deterring wrong-doers, it stated. The SVC also urged law enforcers to arrest the absconding culprit.
