Kiphire, February 26 (MExN): The Shishimi Village Council (SVC) has expressed dismay over the slow progress of work at the ongoing road construction from L0-22 to Shishimi village under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
In a press release on Friday, the council stated that despite repeated reminders to the concerned contractor to improve the progress of work by adding extra machinery, “there is no progress in work and no extra machinery has been added yet.”
The council also alleged that when the progress of work is moving at a ‘snail pace’ due to insufficient machinery, “the contractor instead of using it efficiently, is rather engaged in other individual construction purposes for his personal gain and thereby neglecting the assigned construction work.”
In this regard, the council appealed the concerned authority to look into the matter at the earliest so as to ensure timely execution of work.
The council further stated that as per the RTI reply received from the Office of the Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), the work order was issued on March 9, 2019. “However, even after completion of nearly 2 years, the first fresh cutting has not been completed yet,” it stated.
As such, it requested department not to release the remaining bills without proper completion of the first fresh cutting. Asserting that it would not remain a mute spectator on matters relating to quality workmanship, the council reminded the concerned contractor to follow all specifications as per the Detailed Project Report.
