
Mon, October 11 (MExN): Following the announcement of the bye-election to the 43rd Tapi Assembly Constituency on October 9, the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma said that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) comes into force with immediate effect throughout the district.
Accordingly, the DC&DEO has informed all political parties, intending candidates, government departments/establishment and general public to take note and adhere strictly to the MCC. The DC&DEO also urged all concerned to extend cooperation to the district election machinery to ensure peaceful conduct of the scheduled bye-election, a DIRP report stated.
On October 9, the Chief Election Commissioner of India announced the bye-election to Tapi AC along with assembly elections to Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram. The elections in these states will be held different days from November 7 to 30 with counting of votes on December 3. The bye-election in 43rd Tapi AC was necessitated to fill the vacancy left by veteran Naga politician late Noke Wangno, who died on August 28 this year.
