Zunheboto, May 28 (MExN): In a joint effort, the Forest Department, Police and Armed Forces in Zunheboto have set a target to plant 50,000 saplings.
Disclosing this in a press release, Dr Sentitula, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Zunheboto encouraged the individuals, departments and organisations to come forward and be a part of the activity. The tree planted by each and every individual should “adopt towards life.”
Earlier, in view of the World Environment Day 2021, which is celebrated every year on June 5, a plantation drive was organized by Zunheboto Forest Division under the initiative of Dr Sentitula with the theme ‘Connecting Forest Conservation & Livelihood’ in partnership with the District Executive Force Zunheboto, 32 Assam Rifles Zunheboto, 8th NAP Naltoqa and 111 BSF Satakha.
The plantation drive started from Divisional Forest Office, Zunheboto on May 26 and will culminate on June 5.
The event was witnessed by Masetshilong, Additional Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto, Y Kumtsu Yim, Deputy Commandant 8th NAP, Naltoqa, Major Sebastian, 32 Assam Rifles Zunheboto, Forest Officers and Staff. Shikavi, Forest Beat Officer, Aghunato chaired the event.
