Teachers push for improving system

DIMAPUR, DEC 5 (MExN): The All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA), has submitted to the government nine points for consideration. The resultant vacancies for the post of Assistant Head Master and higher posts be immediately filled up so as to avoid stagnancy as it has not been done for almost a year now, the association’s General Secretary N Thungchio Shitire stated. The ANSTA has further underlined the need for improving the working system and results of HSLC/ESL etc by allowing government teachers the option to teach in either government middle or higher secondary schools while under graduate teachers be reasonably placed in primary schools.

The resultant vacancies in teacher’s posts due to retirement, promotion and death, etc should be filled up timely with proper screening and aptitude test and subsequently posted in schools facing shortage of teachers as a means of redeployment policy without political interference, the representation states.

Other issues which figure in the representation includes the requirement for inspecting officers of DEO/DIS and SIS to inspect schools for 10 days and 20 days in the office.
