TPO 21st general session held

The 21st general session of Tenyimi Peoples' Organization (TPO) was held today at Purul Akutpa village in Senapati district, Manipur under the theme, ‘Tenyimi- Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.’
TPO is an apex body of 10 Tenyimi tribes from Nagaland, Manipur and Assam.
Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, Nagaland Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu described the theme as the right time to discuss about yesterday, today and tomorrow for a bright and better future. “If we talk about Tenyimi’s yesterday, we all must remember that our forefathers have done their part,” he said.
Kronu said that Tenyimi are known for their sincerity, honesty, hospitality, hardworking and bravery.
Unless we are brave enough, other people will not regard us, he said and recalled that in the past British have termed Tenyimi as brave people.
Kronu said that it is time for Tenyimi to play a very important role in Naga political issue, adding “It is time to take a very wise and bold decision.”
Regarding the border issue, he stressed on the need to settle it “among ourselves.”
“If we cannot settle among ourselves that will be very shameful,” he said.
He also challenged Tenyimi community to come together and take a wise decision, so that the next generation would “not blame us.”
Let us try to live peacefully with better understanding, he said.
Also speaking on the occasion as honoured guest, MLA J Kumo Sha, Government of Manipur said that unity and the strength of the people is supreme. He stressed on the need to revisit the past history and renew its vision to live in peace as one family and march forward. He also suggested for formation of Tenyimi Youth Organisation and holding of Tenyimi tribe carnival.
TPO President Timikha Koza called upon Tenyimi community to have unity and safeguard the identity of Tenyimi.
The session also witnessed solidarity messages from Tenyimi Women Organization, Naga Peoples' Organization, Senapati and Tenyimi Union Dimapur. Nagaland Technical Education & Elections Advisor Medo Yhokha also present at the session.
The inaugural session was led by Ashiphri Zho, Secretary Administration, TPO while Dailord, president Poumai Naga Union delivered welcome address. Vote of thanks was proposed by TPO General Secretary Vipopal Kintso. The programme was followed by business session.
