Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey grossed Rs 47.03 crore in India in its first two days, even as the film headed for a projected $257.8 million worldwide opening, potentially the biggest global debut of the filmmaker’s career.
According to trade tracking website Sacnilk the film recorded net collections of Rs 39.40 crore during the first two days in Indi. It opened with Rs 20.76 crore gross (Rs 17.40 crore net) before rising to Rs 26.27 crore gross (Rs 22 crore net) on Saturday.
Live estimates by Sacnilk till Sunday afternoon placed the film’s third day collection at Rs 17.68 crore (net), taking its estimated cumulative net collection to Rs 57.08 crore and gross collection to Rs 67.89 crore. Final figures for the day were yet to be reported.
Gross collection refers to the total box-office revenue from ticket sales, while net collection is the amount remaining after deducting applicable taxes.
Meanwhile, the film is projected to earn $120.5 million in North America, marking the biggest opening for a live-action film in the region so far in 2026. It is also tracking towards a $137.3 million opening across 73 international markets, including the UK and Ireland, France, Australia, Germany, Mexico and Brazil.
If projections hold, The Odyssey will surpass Nolan’s previous biggest worldwide openings — The Dark Knight Rises at $249 million, The Dark Knight at $198 million and Oppenheimer at $180 million, reported entertainment industry publication Deadline.
The film is also reportedly registering Nolan’s biggest opening in 45 international markets, including France, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands and Brazil, while becoming Universal’s biggest-ever opening in 11 markets.
Among worldwide openings in 2026 so far, The Odyssey is projected to rank third overall but first among live-action films, behind The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($372.5 million) and Toy Story 5 ($312 million).
