Kohima, August 25 (MExN): The 23rd Freshers' Social of the Thenyizumi Students' Union Kohima was held at Conclave Conference Hall, LCS Building Kohima on August 25. The meet was conducted under the theme ‘Strategizing for Success.’
Vekutulu Theyo, Associate Professor, SCERT who was present as guest speaker, called upon the students to have specific goals and plans in order to pursue their career, a release stated. “Having a strategy is a plan of action chosen to bring about a desired future,” the Professor pointed.
Reminding the students that government jobs are saturated, Theyo asked the students to change their mentality and look for other avenues. She also iterated that God has given enough potential to every individual to succeed. She emphasized on choosing a career at an early stage and at the same time seek counseling.
The Professor also cited career options which the students can pursue in different fields.
She further asked the students to have a master plan for academic, studying goal and organizing study space. “Manage your time effectively, and prioritize your work, believe in yourself and don't waste your time,” the Professor encouraged.
Vesetalu Swuro, Chairperson, Thenyizumi Women Society exhorted the students and the freshers’ to excel in their career through hard work and effort. She said the students are the bank account where the parents are investing in it and hoped that one day they excel in their career and take care of their parents in return.
While acknowledging the students, she reminded them not to forget their roots and to seek God.
Meanwhile, the meet elected new office members for the tenure of 2018-19 with Khrunuto Kezo as the President and Aveto Resu and Khrunutalu Swuro as Vice President and General Secretary respectively.
