
KUWA celebrates 12th annual ‘Metsü Mehpu’
Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): NPCC President K Therie, on Saturday, emphasized the need to preserve one’s own language and culture.
He said this while speaking as the ‘We Tetshü Tarho’ Kehtsüo’ at the 21st Annual ‘Metsü Mehpu’ cum ‘Rünyi Festival’ of Kuzhami Welfare Association Dimapur (KUWA) held at Chumukedima on December 10.
Ignorance has overtaken our culture, he said lamenting that the respect for elders are gradually losing out in the modern society.
Do not sit and perform your duty in the office alone, but extend your help and to support to the upcoming generations to face different challenges ahead, the NPCC President further exhorted the Kuzhami Government Servants.
He also expressed concern over the fast changing society in Nagaland where unemployment has reached its peak.
Unless the people join a political party and participate and function under the party, the society will not change, Therie reminded the gathering and urged them to elect God fearing leaders from any political party so that he/she will deliver justice to the public.
Meanwhile, new team for KUWA for 2016-2019 tenure was inducted during the event. The new team will be headed by Dr. Eyekhweshe Kepfoh as President, Kewethro Kapfo and Kevelo Doulo as Vice President and Neipete Therie as General Secretary.
Earlier the program was chaired by Kekhrongulo-ü Kapfo, while the Presidential address was given by Wekhape Letro, President KUWA.
The significance of Rünyi Festival was shared by Mikha Lomi, President Kuzhalhu Zawe.
It also featured special number and folk tune performances by Krowemi Union Dimapur and Lasumi Union Dimapur while Rev. Dr. K. Kapfo, Pastor Kuzhami Baptist Church Chumukedima pray for the event.
The main programme was followed by Rünyi feast, informed a press note from KUWA General Secretary Pretso Therie.
