DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 25 (MExN): Acting on the news report issued by the General Practitioners Association, Dimapur regarding ‘Demand Notes’ being served to some members of the medical maternity/ clinics/nursing homes by some underground organizations/factions, Dimapur Police apprehended one of the extortionists after surveillance activities were intensified by deploying plain clothe police personnel in and around the clinics/nursing homes. The arrested extortionist identified as SS Khapur of NNC/Non-Accordist namely Hutoshe Swu (28) son of Ghozushe Swu of Hetoi village under Niuland was apprehended when he came to collect the extortion money from one of the nursing homes to whom the Demand Note had been served earlier.
In another separate incident, two cadres belonging to FGN were apprehended by Special Branch of Dimapur Police while the two were extorting money from the shops located at Chumukedima. The arrested extortionist identified as SS Leacy of FGN, Boto Yepthomi (25) S/O Hekiye Yepthomi of Niuland Town and residing at Chumukedima and SS Sgt. of FGN, Yeshika Zhimomi (23) S/O Shikato Zhimomi of Aghuito village, Satakha, Zunheboto had earlier served Demand Notes to the shops and were in the process of collecting the money when they were apprehended. Tax Receipts totaling 21 Coupons and extorted cash amounting to Rs. 2100/- was covered and seized from their possession.
Cases were registered in these connections and the arrested accused have been forwarded to court for remand.
