‘Time to walk the talk’

Pointing to the intense debates and discussions on social media about various issues by Naga people, NDPP Youth Organization, Vice President, Viccato S. Aye said most of it remains a deliberation and do not see the light of the day when it comes to implementation.

An active social media user himself, Viccato said, “Nagas always give opinions but never follows it practically. It is time to walk the talk.” Speaking as a Special Invitee during the 27th Fresher’s Meet cum Cultural Day at Salt Christian College, Dimapur on Saturday, Viccato urged the students not to be a liability to their parents but to come out of their comfort zones and contribute something to the society in their own possible ways.

“You should not think that the college authority is solely responsible for development of your college but as students you are equally responsible in taking your college forward,” he added.

On similar lines, Viccato reminded about the NDPP’s call for ‘Change is Coming’ and said change will not come alone from the Chief Minister’s Office but every individual has to be involved and contribute towards ushering in positive changes.

He said if Nagaland was to change taking the case of speeches delivered by speakers at innumerable programmes then Nagaland would have changed a lot. However, he rued that people merely listen only to be forgotten the moment the speakers ends his speech. “There are a lot of good speakers in our state and for change to come in some sphere, we can do so by following what the speakers deliver for the good of the society,” Viccato added.

According to Viccato, Nagaland was lagging in many aspects due to the silence of many who knows what is right and wrong but chose to remain silent being apprehensive of hurting others.

He encouraged the students to aim beyond achieving mere 45% but to excel and cited examples in other states where Postgraduate qualified candidates were applying for Grade IV posts.

Viccato expressed the hope that Salt Christian College (SCC) would lead the way and add more feathers to its cap. He urged the students to bring out something tangible out of their annual fresher’s meets.

During the programme, SCC Principal, Tapanjit Sinha also exhorted the gathering.
