The Kohima district administration and District Executive Force (DEF) Kohima on Wednesday organized a Tiranga Rally in Kohima as part of the Government of India’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The rally from PHQ junction was flagged off by Kevithuto Sophie, senior Superintendent of Police, Kohima while Kohima Deputy Commissioner Shanavas C flagged off another rally at Tinpati junction.

The participants of the dual rally, carrying the national flags, converged at Old MLA Hostel junction.

Addressing the gathering at the convergence point, DC Shanavas said that India is making a lot of progress through the motto of ‘Unity in Diversity,’ while adding “I don’t think there is any other country in this world as diverse as India.”

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked Indians to hoist the national flag at their homes for three days- (August 13-15) as part ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme.

In this, Shanavas appealed the citizens to hoist National flag for three days in their homes, shops and establishments.

Meanwhile, SP Sophie said that India got Independence on August 15, 1947 through the ceaseless sacrifices and efforts of the freedom fighters from all nooks and corners of the country.

Today, we are enjoying the fruits of our ancestors and the forerunners of Indian independence movement, he added.

‘Prabhat Pheri’ in other districts
According to a DIPR report, ‘Prabhat Pheri’ (Morning Processions) as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign, was also held in different districts of State on August 10. 

At Pughoboto Sub Division the procession, led by ADC Pughoboto, Tiamern Chang, started from Local Ground, Pughoboto and culminated at the ADC's Office with the involvement of Government offices, DEF, NAP, teachers, students, youth, and others. 

The DIPR informed that the procession in Chümoukedima district was jointly organized by the Chümoukedima administration, police 1st NAP, 15th NAP (IR), and PTS.

DC Chümoukedima Abhinav Shivam said that the district has been organizing various competitions like painting, essay, and quiz competitions in schools. He further informed that the campaign will continue till August 12, with school students on August 11, and civil society organizations, and youth organizations the following day.

The morning walk started from Chumoukedima Gate -2 and culminated at the shopping complex opposite Niathu Resort. 
Similar processions were also held in Satakha, Zunheboto and Tuensang, as per the DIPR.
