Trafficked Naga girls to return home: Police

Dimapur, October 15 (MExN):  Nagaland police today said a team of Dimapur police, including from the women cell is being dispatched to Goa to escort back six Naga girls rescued from a “massage parlor” that had forced the girls into flesh trade. PRO for Police headquarters, Inspector General of Police ST Sangtam informed today that the Naga girls would be escorted back by the Nagaland police.  
The police establishment said Goa police has officially communicated that information was received from NGOs in Aizwal and Shillong that a number of girls from the north-east, including Mizoram and Nagaland states, were ‘employed’ in a “Lotus massage parlor” in Porvorim in Goa. The girls were forced into flesh trade.

Personnel of Panaji Women Police, Goa, raided a flat in Betalbhatim and the “massage parlor” and rescued 11 girls, including six from Nagaland and four from Mizoram. 8 persons were arrested and criminal cases lodged against them by the police. One of the Acts under which the cases were filed included the Goa Children’s Act as one of the Mizo girls were found to be only 17 years of age, a minor. The accused, unnamed in the Nagaland police note, included a person from Delhi, three from Uttar Pradesh, one Vanlaluati from Mizoram and a “Mr. Alex” from Manipur. 

The Dimapur police team will be returning home with the rescued Naga girls, the note added.
