Trainees exhorted to ensure timely and quality data

Dimapur, August 27 (MExN): One day training for data managers and data entry operators under Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) was held at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima on August 26. Directorate of Health & Family Welfare State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr. John Kemp in a press note said that twenty trainees representing all the districts participated in the training.
The Additional Director in-charge of IDSP, Dr. Neiphi Kire exhorted the trainees to ensure timely and quality data as it is crucial to detect and respond to disease outbreaks in the State. He cited the example of new threat like global climate change which may cause disease outbreaks due to prolongation of breeding season of vectors causing diseases like malaria, dengue, Japanese encephalitis, etc. training on disease surveillance mechanism, data management and analysis was delivered by Dr. Sao Tunyi, Epidemiologist, State Surveillance Unit.
Meanwhile hands-on training on reporting through IDSP internet portal was led by Urshela Punanamai, State Data Manager, and Sudhan Sonar, IT Consultant (NRHM). Dr. K. Sophie, Deputy Director & State Nodal Officer (IDSP) chaired the training and led an informal discussion with the trainees to discuss the challenges faced by the trainees in the respective districts. Short speeches were also delivered by Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru, Joint Director & State Program Officer (NRHM); Dr. Kika Longkumer, Deputy Director (NRHM), and Dr. Seyiekietuo Angami, Training Consultant (IDSP).
