WOKHA, NOVEMBER 19 (MExN): The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Wokha organised a one day training for fish farmers at Liphanyan village, under Ralan sub- division, Wokha on November 17. The resource persons for the training were District Fisheries officer, Wokha, C Dory Yanthan; Yitsemo Kikon, FD; and Aponthung Kikon, FD.

The technical know-how training for the fish farmers was based on the topic ‘Culture and Breeding of Common Carp’ under extension and fisheries programme.

Liphanyan Village Council, Chairman, Ekonthung Ovung in his opening remark thanked the department for providing the training to the fish farmers to upgrade their skills on adapting to scientific methods on fish farming. He also urged the farmers to fully utilize the opportunity given to them. Ovung also expressed optimism that with the training, the farmers will increase the volume of fish production. Altogether 31 farmers converged at the community hall for the day long programme.
