Training held on ‘organic farming techniques and organic certification’

Medziphema, December 12 (MExN): The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema organised two-day online training programme on ‘organic farming techniques and organic certification’ for ATMA functionaries on December 10 and 11. 

The training was aimed to provide technical knowledge to the extension functionaries about techniques involved in Organic Farming and different forms of Organic Certification, Director SAMETI & Principal IETC i/c Medziphema informed in a press release. 

The resource persons were Dr Moasunep, Agriculture Inspector, Bio-Control Laboratory, Medziphema and Vikaho Chophi, Deputy Project Director, SAMETI, Medziphema.

The topics covered during the online training were Introduction to Organic Farming and Step by Step Conversion to Organic Farming Techniques; Organic Crop Management Techniques; Pest and disease Management in Organic Agriculture and Organic Food & Certification. 

Naga Organic App was also highlighted to the participants so as to enable the functionaries to help uplift and promote the agro based farmers.

Feedback was received from all the participants and e-Certificates were issued to the participants. Altogether, 21 ATMA functionaries from all the districts of the state attended the online training programme.
