MON, JUNE 8 (MExN): To revitalize efforts towards promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding practices through health systems to achieve higher breastfeeding rates, the District Health Society Mon conducted two-day training on Mothers’ Absolute Affection (MAA) on June 4 and 5 at CMO conference hall, Mon.
Dr Wungyong DPO (RCH&UIP) welcomed all the participants and began the session with minute details on the topics including optimal infant & young child feeding; production and intake of breastmilk; assessing and observing a breastfeed; building confidence, giving support and checking understanding; Antenatal preparation and establishing community breastfeeding support.
Dr Nyamnyei, Medicine Specialist, DH Mon imparted knowledge on the insights of positioning baby at the breast; breast condition; refusal to breastfeed and crying; expression breast milk; breastfeeding low birth weight babies; sustaining optimal infant and young child feeding; nutrition of lactating mothers their health and fertility; breastfeeding by working mother; breastfeeding in special circumstances.
Dr Chimang Paul Paediatrician, DH Mon, continued the sessions by going over the chapters on not enough milk; complementary feeding: foods to fill the nutrient gap; feeding techniques and strategies; growth monitoring and measuring; growth monitoring by growth chart; measuring growth-taking action.
