Training on oyster mushroom cultivation held in Wokha

Wokha, November 11 (MExN): A training programme on ‘method demonstration on oyster mushroom cultivation’ was organised through convergence program between Wokha Forest Division, Doyang Plantation Division and Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission, Wokha.

The programme held on November 11 at the Community Hall, Forest Colony, Wokha gave a major boost to convergence programs between departments.

A press release received here stated that altogether 20 villages from Wokha and Zunheboto districts participated in the training, represented by Self Help Groups (SHG) and Eco-development Committees (EDC) of the respective villages.

The technical session was conducted by Apibeni Y Kikon, Area Coordinator (Livelihoods), Changpang Block, where she thoroughly demonstrated and gave hands on experienceto the participants on the various methods and procedures involved in oyster mushroom cultivation. Nchumbemo Patton, DEO, NSRLM also assisted in the demonstration. Over 300 kg of oyster mushroom spawns and various kits required for its cultivation were also distributed to all the villages. 

Earlier, the keynote address was delivered by Chisayi, IFS, DFO, Doyang Plantation Division. In his insightful address, he stressed on the need for the SHGs and EDCs to seize the opportunity and derive maximum benefit through the practise of mushroom cultivation. 

Samuel Kithan, Assistant District Program Manager, NSRLM, Wokha, encouraged the participants to continue with their good performance in his speech. He highlighted the various activities of the department. Short speech was also delivered by Nzanbemo Patton, Block Program Manager, RD Wokha Block. 

The vote of thanks was proposed by Yanarao Mozhui, Fr-I, while Lansothung Lotha, RFO, Baghty was the chairperson.
