Attendees of the two-day training on skill development under Jal Jeevan Mission organised by District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), PHED Dimapur district from December 8 to 9.

Dimapur, December 9 (MExN): A two-day training on skill development under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) support activities organised by District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), PHED Dimapur district was held on December 8 to 9 at the PHED Rural division office premises.
In a press release, IEC Consultant, Vibou Seyie informed that the programme began with introduction by District Coordinator, Imojungla who noted that the training is aimed at imparting basic skill development to ensure sustainability of water supply infrastructures.
Community participation will play a vital role in sustenance of the water supply systems, she stressed.
SDO (PHED) Urban division, Er Mughalu V Sema speaking on the topic, “Sustainability of JJM Schemes,” said that it would depend largely on the role of the communities.
Operation and Maintenance of the water supply systems by GP leaders/WATSAN and the skilled personnel will play a vital role on sustainability of the scheme, he added.
Altogether 38 participants from 11 villages were trained on trades like Plumbing/Fitter, Welding and Masonry. At the closing function chaired by Hotolu Aye, JE (PHED), certificates were also handed over to the participants by the Executive Engineer, PHED (Rural) Division, Er Vikeduolie.
