Training on water quality standards in Dimapur

Dimapur, August 19 (MExN): Training on water quality monitoring and surveillance for grass root level workers was conducted by PHED, Rural division Dimapur at the office complex of Executive Engineer, PHED, Rural Division Dimapur on August 19.

The training was sponsored by Sanitation & WSSO, PHED Nagaland and organized by DWSM, PHED Rural division Dimapur.

Resource person, Roland Kikon, State Chemist PHED, spoke on water quality standards. He emphasized on the importance of ‘Test before Taste’ and encouraged all trainees to know their water quality before consuming. He explained how water can be physically, chemically and biologically contaminated and that excessive contamination can cause health problems. 

Tzutipokla Longkumer, Chemist DWSM, gave a detailed description on the contents of the field testing kit and hands on demonstration of the field testing kit showing step by step procedure of the testing process. Each village was given field testing kit by the department.
