Tribal Museum at Viswema inaugurated

Youth Resources & Sports advisor Er Zale Neikha today inaugurated the Tribal Museum at Viswema village under Kohima district.

The museum was constructed by Vikehie Welfare Society and funded by Ministry of Culture, Government of India.  Vikehie Welfare Society chairman Eyosa Kikhi said that the proposal for constructing the Tribal Museum started with a motive to preserve the rich culture and traditional artifacts of the village in particular and the Nagas in general.

The Society, he said, applied for this proposal several times, and fortunately it was sanctioned only in December 2017 and with the sanctioned amount and matching share of the society, the construction and purchase of artifacts could be completed.

Er. Zale thanked the Society, Viswema for taking the initiative to complete the Tribal Museum with Central assistance, which is a new development for the village.

This museum would attract tourist especially during the Hornbill festival, he said. He dwelled on the cultures passed on from the forefathers and requested the elders to teach the youngsters about the cultural practices, folklores/dances, war dance etc. He also made a plea to the well wishers to donate artifacts to the museum in whatever possible way in the coming days.

Viswema Village Council chairman Zhotoho Kiso also spoke on the occasion. The programme was chaired by Notsozo Vitsu while vote of thanks was proposed by Vinothul Kikhi.
