Troupes display magnificent cultural dances at Kisama

Kisama | December 1: Expressing its Unity in Culture through the cultural dances by various Nagas tribal groups, to the tourist/visitors, 16 cultural troupes today performed magnificent cultural dances disseminating message to each dances as they sang along. Rusoma cultural troupe representing Angami tribe, performed Sovipfhe, a bird species that is seen flying in groups during certain season, circling above the village and it replicates the movement of the bird and is performed during festivals and joyous occasions,
United Soyim Club, Ungma represented Ao tribe and the troupe performed Hornbill dance, dedicated to the hornbill bird and the dance replicated the movements of the bird. It is said that the hornbill bird is known for its vigilant and alert attitude the peers beneath branches of tall trees to immediately spot lurking or approaching enemies. The dance is famously performed during festivals performed by the Ao Nagas.
Phek village Youth society representing Chakhesang tribe, performed Sükrenye Pheto Li (dance) which is a dance performed during the Sükrenye festival. as they dance, they dancers sings “people who  are sick, people who are poor and in need, people living in a state of despair, this is a new beginning, purify yourself and start a new”.
The Confederation of Chang Students’ Union also performed. The Dimsa Cultural troupe presented Bai-Dima (Folk Dance) which signifies walking, praying and sailing together in joy and harmony. The Khiamniungan tribe performed Ahotsoi, a victory dance. From the land of Anghs, the Konyaks was represented by Chaoha Cultural club Aboi. The Troupe displayed Wanting Pu-meaning Victory song. Kuki performed Sagol Pheikhai Pheiphiet. The Sagol Pheikhai Pheiphiet is accompanied by the drum, gong and Pheiphit which is an indigenous musical instrument made of bamboo.
Bhandari Village cultural club represented the Lotha Tribe. The troupe performed Bhandari Osho Sharu- a festival dance. The Phom cultural troupe performed Yemtong Ken/Chingshong Kesho-a village street music which rang out across the village street whenever an announcement is to be made regarding various activities to be carried out. Likewise the Phor Cultural Club represented Pochury tribe who performed a war dance which is performed at the beginning of every festival. The Kepvüshen Logwa, Tesophenyu, representing Rengma tribe presented festival folk dance which is usually performed during Ngada festival. The vigorous and harmonious steps show unity among the members. The Sangtam tribe was represented by Narongpi Cultural Club represented Sangtam tribe who performed Hao-a dance that is performed during the Among-mong festival. Sumi tribe was represented by Khetoi Village Cultural Troupe, the dance is said to have revealed through the inspiration of the soul of a girl Ili. Yuthurang Cultural Club Fakim represented Yimchungru tribe, the troupe performed Tsun Khun. This folk song and dance is being performed during Medemnio festival. The Zeliang tribe was represented by Kangban cultural troupe who performed Hekaliem, a fish dance. Singing and dancing comes naturally to the Nagas, emotions, events, festival, all expressions are found through different cultural dances, folk dances, folk songs and indigenous games.
