Truck gets caught in rock fall

A stationary truck was crushed as rockslides hit the unstable segment of NH 29 at Chümoukedima, Dimapur on October 11, evening. Luckily there was no casualty. 

According to witnesses, the truck broke down as it was passing the unstable segment. It was parked there when the rocks crashed down on it. There were no occupants when the incident took place.

Meanwhile, police sources informed that loosened rocks from the unstable cliff overlooking the highway continued to dislodge in intervals in between the Chathe river (Patkai) bridge and the police checkpost. 

It started around 5:00 pm stopping vehicular movement temporarily. Earth-movers  were set to work to remove the debris but it was informed that rocks kept falling which slowed down the work. Police sources informed that the rockslides stopped around 8:00 pm and the debris has been cleared.
