Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): The Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur (TSUD) on August 16 launched an Intensive Cleanliness Drive in collaboration with the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), covering the stretch from City Tower to Metro Hospital.
According to a press release issued by the Union, the drive commenced at 5:30 AM on August 16, beginning at City Tower and extending up to Metro Hospital. It said the initiative reaffirmed TSUD’s “enduring commitment to civic responsibility and environmental stewardship.”
The Union stated that the “landmark initiative was made possible through the unwavering support and active participation of all unit members, whose dedication and discipline exemplify the spirit of community service.” It added that TSUD “extends its deepest appreciation to the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) for their collaborative engagement and support, which greatly enhanced the effectiveness of the drive.”
For systematic execution, the Union said it mobilized its nine affiliated tribal units, each of which was assigned specific responsibilities along the designated stretch. More than 60 members took part in the exercise, “demonstrating the power of collective action in transforming public spaces.”
Highlighting the objectives of the drive, the release stated these were to “foster civic cleanliness and public hygiene” and “inspire communitywide participation in urban upkeep.”
“TSUD believes that this initiative is not just about cleaning roads—it’s about cultivating a culture of responsibility, pride, and unity. The Union also anticipate all citizens to uphold cleanliness as a shared value and to continue supporting such efforts for a better Dimapur,” it added.
