Tuensang District task Force gears up fight against COVID-19

Tuensang, August 17 (MExN): The Tuensang District task Force for monitoring and management of issues related to COVID-19 was held in the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Tuensang on August 15. 

Case detected outside QC 
The meeting was chaired by Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, DC and Chairman District Task Force on COVID-19, Tuensang briefed the house on a COVID-19 positive case detected outside the quarantine center. 

The District Epidemiologist stated that the patient had travelled from Dimapur on August 7 on a FCI truck. On reaching Chare check gate, the person was prevented from entering Tuensang due to non-possession of travel permit. However, the person circumvented the check gate and took an alternative route and reached Tuensang on August 9. After receiving information from Chai sector authorities, the person was tested for COVID-19 and was found to be positive. He was subsequently admitted to Tuensang COVID-19 hospital. All primary contacts have been traced and quarantined while secondary contacts have been directed to undergo home quarantine. 

The house agreed to reactivate the ITI quarantine center and to quarantine all male primary contacts there. Female primary contacts will be quarantined at the isolation ward of Tuensang District Hospital until COVID-19 testing is done and results are obtained. 

Chai Sector closed till August 18
The house agreed to close Chai Sector till August 18. During this period, only essential and emergency services shall be allowed, all other movement in Chai sector shall be prohibited w.e.f August 15. Random testing within the sector will be conducted as a precaution. 

The house decided to let the Chai sector volunteers supply essentials to the houses that have been sealed. The DC requested the Chai sector volunteers to monitor and ensure essential needs of sealed houses are met. 

Confirmatory test for Kiphire case 
The DC briefed the house on the request received from DTF Kiphire for confirmatory testing (to be done at COVID-19 Hospital, Tuensang) of a COVID-19 positive case detected in Kiphire. In this regard, the house agreed to allow confirmatory testing of the same. 

The house decided to allow trucks and pick-ups bringing in essentials goods from outside the district to enter the district between 2:00pm to 6:00pm on all days. Failure to comply will lead to cancellation of trade licenses. 

Church services suspended till Aug 31
Tuensang Town Baptist Pastors' Union, President highlighted on the Union's decision to suspend Church services till August 31 and appealed to the District Task Force on COVID-19 to initiate random COVID-19 testing of high risk groups.

The President also expressed the Union's continued support to the DTF. 

The house decided that respective wards will be responsible for monitoring and report any unauthorized person(s) in the respective wards. All returnees/travelers will give information (self-declaration) to the ward authorities prior to entering the district. The DC directed the Chief Medical Officer to assign a team to provide information relating to such returnees to the District Task Force so that digital monitoring may be done. 

The house agreed to designate the Sedem Quarantine Center for medical staff on COVID-19 duty. 

Waive off testing charges
The house decided to waive off COVID-19 testing charges for those unable to pay. In this regard, the house agreed to allow waivers basing on the recommendations of sector authorities.
