Tuensang, July 10 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Tuensang organised inter-state farmers’ exposure tour to Sikkim from July 3 to 7. Ten farmers and three ATMA officials were part of the tour, informed a press release from ATMA Tuensang.
The team visited farm schools of different progressive farmers – low cost polytunnel green house for off-season vegetables, water conservation through Jalkund, and CP Bhattarai Model Integrated Organic Farm located at Assam Lingzey, Daragoan and Kameray in East Sikkim.
There were interactions between the progressive farmers and the visiting farmers. The latter were exposed to the importance of organic farming, organic manure, bio-pesticides, Madhyam compost, vermicompost/ vermin wash, low cost water harvesting and various innovative technologies for organic farming, the release stated.
The purpose of the tour, it said, was to enhance and upgrade the skill and knowledge of the farmers.
