Tuensang, April 17 (MExN): As part of the inter-district exchange learning programme, the Department of Land Resources, Tuensang visited Wokha on April 14 and 15.
The team led by Puthuto Natso and staff visited Wokha PMKSY and WMP (WDC) project. The field staff and officers visited eight villages where coffee, springshed, rubber and other activities are taken up in the project.
Welcoming the team, Wokha DPO, Tupenol Yore said, Wokha being the ‘Land of Plenty’ has a lot of potential and the people if not lazy could earn livelihood by taking up the activities under the project.
He also disclosed that through rubber plantation, farmers under the project has earn around one crore eighty lakhs so far. The DPO said that the intervention of the department has brought changes and also enhanced sustainable livelihood in the district.
While interacting with the farmers and the staff Tuensang DPO, Puthuto Natso said that the exchange programme has paved way for all learn and to share. “We are looking forward to learn especially on rubber plantations as Wokha district is viable for rubber crop,” he added.
The team visited coffee farm where coffee Arabica, Robusta were planted and hand on experience sharing on topping shed were discussed.
