The Police Baptist Church, DEF Tuensang celebrated its 25th anniversary on October 11 with Rev Dr Hukashe A Zhimomi, Executive Secretary, Nagaland Police Baptist Churches Association (NPBCA), as the anniversary speaker.
The programme was scheduled to be held on March 25 and 26 but was postponed due to COVID-19 lockdown.
Speaking on the theme ‘The year of mercy,’ Zhimomi said that God is a merciful God and that is why we should also be merciful. “To be merciful, it means to be able to forgive and give love to others,” he added.
He further encouraged the congregation by saying that helping the needy and feeding the hungry are ways to be merciful. “This feeling to help others must come from within, reflecting upon the love that Jesus has shown us and not just for the sake of doing it,” he maintained.
Rev Zhimomi also pointed out that the ministry in jails is weak. While the inmates are jailed for crimes against the law, he said that most of them stay there with sadness and depression. “We must reach out to them so that they will come out from there a changed person,” he said while putting across that jail ministry is as important as any other.
