Tuensang: St John’s HSS holds first graduation ceremony

St.John’s Higher Secondary School, Tuensang, hosted its first graduation ceremony on Tuesday at the school auditorium with the theme “Future in Focus.” The ceremony celebrated the academic accomplishments of the 2024-25 batch under the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), marking a 100 percent pass rate in both the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations.

Longpoksang Lemtur, NPS, Superintendent of Police, Tuensang, attended the event as the chief guest. The program was led by emcees Sonla and Imsu Yongkai.

The chief guest, Longpoksang Lemtur, addressed the gathering and congratulated the graduates for their achievements. He encouraged the students to remain focused on their goals and contribute meaningfully to society.

The awarding of certificates and honours was carried out by Tosangla. Notable awards were presented to high achievers in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations: Manisha Kumari secured 7th rank and received the HSLC Topper Award, sponsored by Yanghopi Sangtam, along with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 for securing 97.17 percent; Hechila L secured the 9thrank in the HSLC and received the Governor’s Award for Eastern Nagaland with a score of 96.83 percent; Sungmo Kundang was recognized for achieving the 12thrank with 96.33 percent; Asensola Chang secured the 16thrank with 95.67 percent.

In the subject-wise toppers list, both Manisha Kumari and Hechila scored a perfect 100 in Science.

For HSSLC achievers, Thonkoi received the Governor’s Award for Class 12 Science for Eastern Nagaland. Kongniu C from Class 12 Arts, who emerged as the best academically performing student of the 2023–25 Higher Secondary batch with 88.2 percent, was awarded a laptop sponsored by the school.

All graduating students were felicitated with commendation certificates, and outstanding teachers were also recognized for their contributions. “Nostalgia Trip” by Class 10 B and a musical trio by Shangpi and Friends concluded the performances before Thinkhela, the school assistant leader, delivered the vote of thanks.

Earlier, the ceremony began with an invocation by Rev Sr Tincy, Vice Principal of the school, followed by a song performance, “God Will Make a Way,” by Mongtau of Class 4D. Rev Fr Shaji Matthew, Principal of SJHSS, delivered the welcome address. The event featured a range of cultural and musical performances, including “Glorious” by Bendangmongba and Friends, “Ignite Moves” by Chongki Chemdan, and “Shinigawa” by Sendong.

Valedictorian Manisha Kumari delivered a farewell speech on behalf of the graduating class. The performance segment also included “Success Mantra” by Changsonla and Friends, “Miracle” by outgoing students, and “Fun Fusion” by Tonching Sonla and Company.
