Tuensang, January 28 (MExN): In a major boost for the health care facility for citizens in Tuensang, two new sub-centers at Chendang Saddle and Washu village were inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Tuensang, Dr I Moatemjen Jamir on January 27.
The CMO noted the strategic location of Chendan Saddle which is in the tri-junction of Noklak, Shamator and Tuensang, and stated that the health center is very important to cater to medical emergency services in the area.
He advised the village council to demarcate the area of health centre, make proper affidavit of land gift deeds and submit a copy to the CMO office as early as possible.
He further instructed the village leaders to discourage the private settlement near the health centre to prevent land encroachment issues in the future. The CMO also requested the council to plan for a temporary staff quarter until the official quarter is set up, since it is difficult for the health staff to avail house for rent in the village.
Stating that development and placement of the health staff for sub-centre will come in a phase wise manner, the CMO further stated that developmental works of the government usually take longer as they are subject to formal procedures.
In this regard, he appealed to the community not to wait for government alone but to take ownership and assist in basic development wherever possible to enable the health centre to start functioning.
He also assured all possible assistance towards the development of the health centers.
