Mon, November 17 (MExN): The DEF Mon on Tuesday reported the arrests made in connection to highway robbery and murder under the jurisdiction of Tizit police station.
According to a press release from the PRO of the Mon DEF, during the month of October, reports were received about a number of thefts and highway robbery within the jurisdiction of Tizit Police station. The spate of crime continued through the month of November 2020 culminating in the murder of a local youth identified as Yingtai Konyak (32 years). Konyak was found in a serious condition on the roadside along NH-702 at Lapa Lampong on November 11, the release stated.
Acting on reliable and specific inputs, a Police team arrested one Taonyei Konyak (31 years) on suspicion of being a member of the highway robbery gang.
During the course of investigation it was revealed that Late Yingtai, one Manpha Konyak and the arrested accused were part of the highway robbery gang and that Manpha Konyak had stabbed the deceased after an altercation.
On November 16, Manpha Konyak was arrested by the Police in connection with Tizit PS Case No.017/2020 U/S 392 IPC, Tizit PS Case No.018/2020 U/S 392 IPC and Tizit PS Case No.019/2020 U/S 302 IPC, it added.
