Dimapur, March 12 (MExN):  Quick response from witnesses and personnel of the Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) stationed in Noklak and Longleng helped prevent two separate major fire incidents on March 11.

According to updates from the RO (E) (F&ES), Kenny Khing on Friday, a detached team from Fire Station Tuensang stationed at Noklak responded to a fire call at Kusong village in Noklak district on March 11. Subsequently, fire tenders along with sufficient equipment and fire personnel led by Duty Commander ASI Mziegwangteing were pressed into action.

As per the updates, one katcha house with three living rooms was gutted in the inferno and property worth approximately Rs 5 lakh was lost in the inferno. It said that the response team took about 40 minutes to combat the fire. While the cause of fire could not be ascertained, there was no casualty reported.

In Oukshok village under Longleng district, a team led by Duty Commander SIC Lamthai Khiamniungan and ASI Wangkim Wangsa responded to a fire call on March 11. Two fire tenders along with sufficient equipment and fire personnel were despatched to control the fire in which one katcha house was gutted.

The release stated that one person sustained minor injury in the incident and property worth approximately Rs 3 lakh was destroyed. However, due to timely information and response, property worth Rs 5 lakh could be salvaged and the fire was brought under control before it could spread to neighbouring houses, it stated. An electrical short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.
