TYSWO golden jubilee celebration underway

 A five-day long golden jubilee celebration of Thenyizumi Youth Social Welfare Organization (TYSWO) kicked start today in Thenyizu village under Phek district.

Gracing the inaugural function as the special guest, MLA and former NLA speaker Dr Chotisuh Sazo stressed on the need to develop professionalism in sports while also giving importance to education.

He said Thenyizumi had ever being pioneers of education, politics with person like late N Theyo and late Punuhu Dawhuo and  in field of sportspersons in the person of State Wrestling Coach Chisazo Dawhuo, State Archery Coach Hunezo Thisa and also of the present Naga Wrestling Champion Venuzo Dawhuo among other,s and challenged the younger generation to work harder and be dedicated to excel higher aiming for Olympic.

He added celebration of Golden Jubilee is worthy in celebrating of the glorious past and further told the youth to retrospect and introspect to progress further in all fields.

Further, he expressed optimism of the various ongoing road constructions in the State and including Phek district that would boost connectivity.

Earlier, he unveiled the golden jubilee monolith and also released a souvenir, to mark the celebration.

TYSWO’s first president Vekhwutso Resu lit the tournament torch commemorating the 50 glorious years.

Thenyizu Village Council chairman Medothi Rhakho and Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) president Nezosa Tetseo also shared greetings.

TYSWO’s president Veseta Swuro delivered presidential address. The first day of celebration was marked by Naga Wrestling event.

In senior category, Vephuto Vero emerged as the champion defeating Venekho Dawhuo in the final bout of the wrestling event. 

Razouvoto Poru and Nuvezo stood 3rd and 4th position respectively.

In Junior category, Huvoto Nakro stood first position, followed by Chosezo Nakro in second while Zhoveto Nakro and Khrukho Swuro stood third and fourth position respectively. The celebration will continue till December 18.
