Tzüla Green Zone Project hosts River Angling Festival 1.0

Mokokchung, November 2 (MExN):  The Tzüla Green Zone Project (TGZP) organised the River Angling Festival 1.0 on October 31 and November 1 at the Tzüla (Dikhu) River, Mokokchung.

The two-day festival brought together anglers, artists, and nature enthusiasts in a celebration of river life, sustainable fishing, and environmental awareness.

As per a press release, the angling competition witnessed enthusiastic participation across multiple categories such as Biggest Catch, Most Catches and so on. 

In the Biggest Catch category, Lolenpenba emerged victorious, while Toshilemba claimed the title for Most Catches.

The Senior Angler Award was presented to Imkongchuba, aged 59, in recognition of his skill and experience, and the Junior Angler Award went to Marlong Jamir, just five years old, showcasing remarkable promise in the sport.

Alongside the angling event, a painting competition was held to foster creativity and environmental awareness among young artists. 

Students from Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung participated at the event with the top honours awarded to Limana Ozukum (1st Prize), Watimenla (2nd Prize), and Menagyangla (3rd Prize).

The release further informed that the festival aimed to promote eco-tourism, responsible angling, and river conservation, aligning with TGZP’s broader initiative to protect and preserve the Tzüla River ecosystem.

The organisers expressed gratitude to all participants, partners, and volunteers for their active involvement and support in making the event a success.
