UDD inaugurates IWSN training institute

Director Urban Development, Takatuba Aier inaugurated the Kohima branch of Incessant Welfare Society Nagaland (IWSN) training institute at Officer’s Hill on November 16. 

Highlighting the importance of skill development, Aier pointed out that around 3,000 students graduate from a small state like Nagaland every year. He said that all the graduates cannot be accommodated in the government sector. Aier therefore, said that after providing skill development, the graduates can gain employment. 

Appraising that there are few training institutes in Kohima, he encouraged to expand on providing other applicable trade. In addition to the facilities provided by the Urban Development Department to start the training institute, he also highlighted on the facilities provided by other departments that a training institute could avail to provide skill development.

IWSN President, Azungla Imsong informed that that IWSN is an NGO running for 13 years, with head office in Dimapur. She said that IWSN training centre has been accorded five stars from Skill India. 

Stressing that IWSN provides training for cutting and tailoring, fashion designing, computer education and electrical engineering, Imsong said that the IWSN training institute in Kohima will initially be providing cutting and tailoring training, and will be upgrading to other trades. 

H Mukam also spoke during the inauguration, while Asang pronounced the invocation. The programme was chaired by Administrator, IWSN Kohima, Akumla Longchari.  The Kohima branch will provide 3 months cutting and tailoring certificate course Monday to Friday.
