Ane-u Khaming, National Peoples' party intending candidate for Ward 16-Lerie, Lerie Chazou, New Reserve, New Ministers hill has promised to prioritise basic public amenities of the people if she is elected.
The amenities she mentioned were to bring provisions of clean safe drinking water, construct footpaths and drainage, to put women into sanitation committee, electricity, repair and renovate Panchayat hall among others.
She was speaking during a campaign kick-off programme in Kohima in the evening.
These priorities, Khaming said were put on focus keeping in mind the need of the people adding that the ward was the biggest with 4 panchayats present.
Khaming said unrealistic assurance were not worthy if it will not materialize and therefore said she will put approach to work with honesty and dedication, giving her full time to the people of the ward and assured that the door is open to address people's grievances and issues.
"Together we will make ward 16 a better place to work and live," Khaming pointed out.
She also said that 33 percent reservation policy is not just a number, but an opportunity for women to raise their voice in the decision making and added that she represent every women.
J K Sangma, General Secy national NPP said that NPP being a party borne from the Northeast takes pride in being the 6th national party in the country which began with a hope to support the voice of the minorities. He expressed happiness to the state for reposing faith in the NPP party, in not just the ideology but the leadership.
He said it is a moment of pride for the party to be having huge presence in the ensuing elections having women to represent with the reservation implemented in Nagaland.
He underscored that democracy can only be vibrant if every stakeholder takes part not just in voting franchise but participate in the process of governance.
Kohima Town MLA and Working President of National People's Party (NPP), Nagaland, Tsielhoutuo Ato Rhütso said the NPP party stands for inclusivity and stands for all tribes and people of Nagaland keeping in mind that capital Kohima accommodates everyone. Observing that Ward 16 has the highest number of votes in Kohima with 4 colonies combined, he strongly vouched to have more wards and until there was no delimitation in the state.
He said that it was important to voice accordingly. Rhütso said funds have to distributed not according to ward but by votes so that the ward does not remain neglected to fulfill its aspirations.
Sport speeches were delivered by Thungbeni, Advisor, New Minister Hill; Avüno Vizol Liezietsu, New Reserve, Neisu Chaya, Leirie, and Neizongulie Suohu, Chairman, Leirie Chazou Panchayat.
