Ungma, May 20 (MExN): Ungma Baptist Arogo (Ungma Baptist Church) is celebrating its hundred years of Christianity at Bapu Tzubu amphitheater. The programme which started this evening is being attended by thousands of Ungma village citizens and others.
The centenary celebration (1914-2014) is being held on the theme ‘My Lord Jesus Christ’, and it will culminate on Wednesday, May 21.
Formally opening the grand centenary celebration, executive secretary of Ao Baptist Church council (ABAM), Rev Dr Mar Atsongchanger invoked God’s blessings on Ungma Baptist Church. He also unveiled the plaque commemorating the 100 years of Christianity at the Ungma Baptist Church.
The main programme will be held on Wednesday where prominent people will address the congregation. Chief among them is former chief minister and present governor of Odisha Dr SC Jamir who hails from Ungma village.
The main speakers at the centenary celebration are Rev Noklen Longkumer, Pastor of Ungma Baptist Church, Sentisashi Aier, Associate Pastor of Kohima Baptist church, and L Bendangla Jamir, Chaplain of White Memorial Hostel, CBCNEI Guwahati.
